Kidneys:
Improves kidney functions and is therefore a great help in pathologies associated to renal failiure (1)
Hepatic level:
Its high Cordycepin content restrains tissue fibrosis ( reduces inflammation and improves hepatocellular function). It is also very useful in alcohol-related liver diseases with cellular necrosis, such as cirrhosis (2). Cordycepin is a bioactive constituent which plays an important role in protection of the liver against alcohol damages and chemical substances of the pathologies stated above.
Genitourinary system:
Increases testosterone production in cases of male impotency (3) and the libido (both male and female) and is therefore used in fertility treatments. It is also used as a natural regulator of the menstrual cycle.
Energy:
Increases concentrstion and memory in students. Recommended in cases of asthenia and depression for the elders by improving their mood and sleep quality (4). Athletes will notice an increase of their energy, sports performance and muscular development. Several scientific studdies confirm its action to increase the use of oxygen and ATP production, increasing muscular power, shortening the muscle recovery time and favoring the lactic acid elimination.
Immune system and infections:
Anti-Viraland anti- replicative actions. It is Cordycepin content ( adenine-nucleoside), as shown in studies, inhibits the viral replication in hepatitus B and C virus (5) by slowing the viral DNA synthesis and inhibiting reverse transcriptase. In HIV patients it has been proven to reduce viral load and increase lymphocytes T CD4, which diminishes the risk of suffering oppotunistic infections.
Respitory system:
Increases aerobic capacity, cardiovascular health and respitory function in healthy elderly people.

Should mushrooms be avoided in Autoimmune conditions? Are they immune stimulators?
Mushrooms are biological response modifiers (BRMs), or adaptogens, i.e. they modulate the immune system. So they modulate autoimmune conditions and inflammation levels in the body, whilst helping the body fight off pathogens. The most powerful immune modulator, recommended for autoimmune conditions, is Agaricus Blazei Murrill, or Sun mushroom (as in our MicoSol product), followed by reishi, then cordyceps sinensis is recommended for complaints like lupus.
