Many athletes suffer from performance anxiety and struggle with these common mental hurdles:
- I worry that I AM NOT GOOD ENOUGH
- I COMPARE myself to everyone else
- I FEAR making mistakes
- I am AFRAID of disappointing others
These thoughts create a whole host of physical symptoms like nausea, dry mouth, raised heart rate, sleep deprivation, and shaking, which results in performance anxiety, and athletes can experience:
- Freezing at the starting line
- Lose concentration and focus
- Making more mistakes in games
- Increase risk of injury
So, how can you overcome performance anxiety?
In our programs we start with the Awakening. The next time you tell yourself your not good enough or afraid to fail follow these simple steps:
- What am I thinking?
- How am I feeling emotionally?
- How is my body feeling?
- How will this affect my performance?
- Why is it important?
Once you have identified and understood your negative thought patterns and behaviours you can absolutely change them and positively impact your performance by asking yourself these questions:
- What do I want to think?
- How do I want to feel emotionally?
- How does my body feel now?
- Why is that important?
- How will it affect my performance?
It is essential to understand this process because the words you say to yourself create a physiological reaction in your body.
Positive, energised language releases dopamine and is linked to certainty and confidence, therefore enhancing your performance.
If you find yourself stuck in a constant cycle of negative looping thoughts that continually affects your performance, it is often caused by a deep rooted negative belief system within your subconscious mind.
At Master You Greatness we can guide you through our unique and powerful program to break through the mental barriers so you can perform at your best with a powerful hypnotherapy, Rapid Transformation Hypnotherapy.
