The digestive system:
Lion's Mane acts as a gastric protector (1), gastric mucosa regenerator and prebiotic. This prebiotic action comes from the insoluble fibres in mushrooms which are metabalised by the intestinal microorganisms, in this way stimulating the correct functioning of the gut flora microbes. This process improves nutrient absorption, supporting protection against antigens, and helping to support prevention against future immune disorders.
The nervous system:
Lion's mane improves the development of brain cells (2), showing a promoting effect on the myelin production process (3), and leading to an adequate psychomotor development during the early stages of life.
Lion's Mane also has antioxidant effects, protecting the cellular structures from oxidation damage. And as in other mushrooms, it contains polysaccharides (beta-glucan type) with significant immunomodulating action (4).
The content in adenosine and guanosine act as muscle relaxants and anti-platelet aggregators.
Reishi also acts as a powerful antioxidant, protecting the cellular structures from oxidative stress (4). The triter[enoid fraction is responsible for these properties and it is considered as an adaptogen.
The immune system
The anti-allergenic properties associatted with Reishi originated in the stimulation of monocytes, NK and dendritic cells - which are part of inherent immunity- as well as improvements in Th1/Th2 balance. Because it stimulates the body at an overall level and modulates the immune system (3). Reishi is considered an adaptogen.
The cardiovascular system:
Reishi has a revitalising effect on the heart and cardiovascular system (1). It acts as a heart rythem modulator and presents a light antiplatelet effect. It has also been proven as a cardiovascular protector by reducing both cholesterol levels and blood pressure (2 ).
